This happened two weeks back. My friend found a wood pecker which was still an infant on the road probably fell down from the nest. It was not able to fly. Being an animal lover he brought it home fearing it could get killed on the road.We made a makeshift nest for it to stay.We searched internet for how to feed it. We gave honey mixed with water using an ink filler. It refused grains. We were hopeful of looking after for few days so that it grows enough to fly.It posed for photographs nicely. In the end of second day it showed signs of sickness. It was not active. In the mid night it died. We were upset. My friend was not ready to see it as he was too upset. So I threw it on the garbage immediately without telling him.The next morning he was asking about what I did with it, I said I threw it on garbage. He was worried that when the workers clean the garbage they might crush the dead wood pecker. He told he thought of burying it on the beach. It was barely with us for 24 hours. I told my friend not to worry as it would have felt his love before dying, if not for his love it would have died for sure on the road.
I have felt that many times we neglect our loved ones, procrastinate what we want to do for them citing many reasons. It could be as simple as a loving gesture or gifts which we can easily do. We take them for granted thinking they should understand our situation. We underestimate the happiness it creates in the other person. Guys wake up .... when you have time after all your schedule it is not sure that the other person might be in a state to accept your love.
